SAFETY
All aspects of our operations are subject to detailed Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS) and these are reviewed as an ongoing process for bespoke events and reviewed holistically annually.
Risk Assessments
Organisations/Schools occasionally ask to see copies of our risk assessments and associated paperwork as part of their event preparation. The HSE, AALA’s role includes inspecting our Risk Assessments and procedures; therefore this inspection has been conducted by a Government agency.
The ‘Risk Assessment’ that organisations/schools may be required to do is not a detailed assessment of each activity, as non-outdoor qualified specialists are not generally experts in these outdoor activities. Instead risk assessment' can simply state that 'the risk of outdoor activities has been controlled by the measure of appointing a verified outdoor provider licensed by AALA – the activities themselves are covered by our own Risk Assessments'. However, if you still wish to see copies of these please let us know.
Public Liability Insurance
We are insured for public liability cover for £5 million in respect of all activities offered.
As with all holidays or events, Participants are advised to insure themselves against cancellation, personal injury, and loss or damage to belongings and equipment.
Staff training
All of our instructors hold as a minimum nationally recognised industry qualifications, are required to maintain logs of their continued professional development (CPD) and are active enthusiasts in pursuing their outdoor sports.
AALA licensING
We are NOT AALA licensed (we have been many times over the years) however we no longer offer activities that fall withing the AALA regulations (activities for groups of children under 18yrs old) so have decided not to renew our license. We have not changed any of our systems of safety since dropping the AALA licensing system, so you can rest assured our standards meet and often exceed the requirments for the HSE AALA registration. Our license used to cover the following activities (for children under the age of 18yrs): Rock Climbing, Abseiling, Hill Walking, Mountaineering (Including multi-pitch and winter climbing), Kayaking, Open Canoeing, Improvised rafting and Stand-Up-Paddle boarding.
